A sworn translation (traducción jurada) is an official translation signed and stamped by a translator appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You need one whenever a Spanish consulate, court, university, notary or registry asks for a foreign document in Spanish — for example for a visa, residency, nationality or university application.

Most student visa applications require sworn translations of your diplomas and academic transcripts, a criminal record certificate, and sometimes proof of financial means or a medical certificate. Digital Nomad Visa files typically include employment or client contracts, company certificates, degrees and a police clearance. Non-Lucrative Visa files usually include pension or income letters, a medical certificate and a criminal record certificate.
